"...with nothing"

…& yes, where did they go? we miss having SOAR in residence - like having an album you love on repeat - only you get to hangout with the band 24/7 - what a lovely group of care and talent. cannot wait for their return. a bonus to their residency was rebs brother josh and his band cave babies came down from davis and opened up the brunch concert…what a treat!

september with nothing was an interesting concept. perhaps a new title for it next year? september - the month to get shit done - what has been put on hold while all the beauty is afoot - prioritizing space and time for creativity, keeps the must dos on the back burner - for better or worse. all said, this month has been very satisfying - the check list is almost complete - the house is painted, the backsplash tiled & the plumber will show up wednesday - along with a couple poet fellows for four days - madeline hernandez & melissa mack - then the ocotober artists arrive shortly there after! so looking forward to welcoming kevin corcoran, quinn keck, jake spertus & robin milliken. the open house will be on october 27th from 3-6pm.

the proposal portal for 2025 is open!! & will remain so until october 6th becomes october 7th - two weeks from today. get em in early folks - we have a residency approaching! so if you are reading this, now is the time. sit down with your morning cup of coffee and answer the questions. send your online details. done. you will then receive a link with further instruction and a space to forward any docs and sound/visuals which might not be on your website (if you have one!).

there are several things approaching that should be mentioned - small works has invited OR & whp to occupy a space up behind the frame shop starting october 19, 2024 and into mid november - the opening action will be on the 19th and will include performances by picking up sticks, john davis, kevin corcoran, & lovage sharrock with jon leidecker. keep your eye on TREE WORK.

in november - mark your calendars for the 17th for the next writing day hosted by jennifer williams aka gossimer. details forthcoming on website and IG. spaces go quickly so keep your eye on the whp story and website for the sign up sheet.

we are also working in collaboration with the sf arts commission in hosting a bazi astrology writing workshop with sun park & shirin khalatbari curated by shirin makaremi - other collaborators to be announced shortly. go to the sfac gallery to check out their beautiful installation - a church-like atmosphere we all can feel at home in. this will be sunday november 24th from 9am - 6pm. stay tuned…

in december whp will host a week long residency designed by peter whitehead which will culminate in a performance including other musicians invited by peter - a day long open house for the fellows of whp. this will be sunday december 8th - a chance to reunite with your fellow residents and meet other whp types you have not yet crossed paths yet. really looking forward to this.

december 21st is the winter solstice - whp radio will be taken over by suki o’kane and friends - tune in all day long to hear what they are up to - recognizing this transition and sending out signals. it will be something.

a couple events that just happened here in vallejo worth mentioning…

on saturday re:sound hosted lori goldston and ILIOS - a particular form of hypnosis. a perfect curation of two. transformed thought pattern. & the body.

& yesterday, the most recent opening at personal space here in vallejo - SLIPPER - the show is incredible, go see! village vallejo was behind the bar as per usual & will be opening their brick and mortar next door to personal space very soon! tony ferraro and sammy sartori DJ’d, abracadabra performed & v vale was on hand with REsearch publications - it was another lovely afternoon of personal space.
